Remove backgrounds from product photos

ClearPix runs U²-Net once after you upload a product photo and click Remove background, entirely in your browser. On the result page, switch between transparency, white, or a custom color and choose the original size or 600×600 px; every change recomposites instantly without running the model again. No custom image background is available. Glass, transparent packaging, reflective edges, and original shadows still need careful review.

Prepare a product cutout for a catalog, marketplace, or design without uploading the source. U²-Net creates the alpha mask once after you click Remove background; background and size controls then update the local composite in real time without further inference.

What can you do after removing a background?

Create clean product images or export a transparent PNG for design, compositing, and other creative work. This general page does not add replacement backgrounds or apply ID photo dimensions.

Background removal FAQ

How do I remove a background from a product or portrait photo?

Drop in your image and press Remove background. The cutout runs locally in your browser, and you can then export a transparent PNG.

What image formats and sizes are supported?

PNG, JPG and WebP are supported. Files can be up to 20 MB, with a longest side of 6000 px and no more than 16000000 pixels in total. If your image exceeds any limit, resize it before processing.

Are my photos uploaded for background removal?

No. Your image is read and processed on your device, and the cutout is created locally. Nothing is uploaded to a server for processing.

Can I replace the background or make an ID photo here?

This general page only removes backgrounds and exports transparent PNGs. For a replacement background or document-sized ID photos, use the dedicated background-replacement or ID-photo scenario page. Check the current official rules before submitting an ID photo.

Only process images you own or have explicit permission to modify.

How it works

1

Add the product photo

Drop a PNG, JPG, or WebP with one clearly visible product. The image opens locally in your browser.

2

Click Remove background

After upload, click Remove background to run the same U²-Net model once, with no mode selection. Review handles, holes, thin parts, and reflective edges.

3

Adjust the result in real time

Choose transparency, white, or a custom color, then keep the original size or select 600×600 px. Changes recomposite immediately without rerunning U²-Net.

4

Inspect and download

Hold to compare with the source, then export a transparent PNG or a flattened PNG, JPG, or WebP composite. Custom image backgrounds are not available here.

Recommended settings

  • • Start with one fully visible item that has clear separation from its background.
  • • Choose transparent PNG for reusable catalog assets, or white or a custom color for a flattened listing image.
  • • Keep the original size or select 600×600 px, then inspect holes, handles, reflective edges, and shadow boundaries at full size.

What to expect

  • • Glass, transparent packaging, reflective details, and original shadows are not guaranteed to look natural.
  • • Multiple overlapping products and fine openings can produce missing or extra regions; there is no manual mask editor.
  • • Custom image backgrounds are unavailable; original-size and 600×600 px outputs do not verify marketplace-specific requirements.

What local processing means

Unreleased products and client catalog images remain on your device while U²-Net creates the cutout and the browser applies transparency or a color background. There is no remote image upload. The model, runtime and public evidence assets still download initially; after the required files are cached, supported product cutouts can run offline. Anonymous product events do not include the source image, result or filename.

What browser AI actually uploadsTrust Center

Your file never leaves your device. All AI processing runs locally in your browser on your own hardware — there is no upload, no queue, and no copy stored on any server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and everything still works.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a white-background product image?

Yes. Select white on the result page and it is composited into the actual export, not just shown in the preview. You can also choose a custom color or keep transparency and export a PNG for later design work.

Does it preserve glass, transparent packaging, and shadows?

Not reliably. ClearPix does not guarantee clean transmission through glass, accurate transparent packaging, or preservation of original contact shadows. Treat these as difficult cases and inspect the result before using it in a catalog.

Which background and size controls are available?

The result page offers transparency, white, and custom colors, plus original-size and 600×600 px outputs. These controls recomposite the existing cutout in real time without another inference. Custom image backgrounds are not included in this product workflow.

Will the tool redraw my product?

U²-Net estimates an alpha mask rather than repainting the product. Background and output size changes only affect composition, so they do not run the model again. Edge pixels can still look wrong when the mask is inaccurate, so compare fine details before download.

Are product photos uploaded?

No. The source, alpha mask, and selected color composite are processed on your device. Model and runtime files are downloaded and cached; the image itself is not sent to ClearPix for processing.
